It’s my pleasure to host Pam Hillman. Here’s a brief summary of her book, The Crossing at Cypress Creek: Sailing and soldiering around the world has taken Caleb O’Shea far from his native Ireland, so he never imagined that a promise to see a fellow crewman safely home would practically land him on his brother’s doorstep in Natchez, Mississippi. The one thing he knows for sure is that he won’t stay long. Since her sister was kidnapped by river pirates six months ago, Alanah Adams has taken special care to avoid drawing attention to herself. Those living in the rough-and-tumble settlement of Cypress Creek might even think she’s addled. But when she stumbles into Caleb and his friends in Natchez, she appears to be the picture-perfect lady.

Crazy is as Crazy Does by Pam Hillman

Some people in Cypress Creek believe Alanah Adams is addled. But is she really? Since Alanah is the heroine of my latest novel, The Crossing at Cypress Creek, I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Don’t we all do things, hide aspects of our lives, or act a certain way because we feel it’s in our best interest to do so? We’ve all heard of the bag lady who lives in a dump, drives a beat up old car, or maybe gads about town pushing a shopping cart, but when she passes away, it’s discovered she’s socked away millions.

And what about the crusty old (or maybe not so old) cowboy who wears run-down at the heel boots, a worn-out work shirt and a battered cowboy hat to the coffee shop on the corner. He’s usually quiet and unassuming, but could buy you and me two or three times over.

Don’t forget the beautiful young woman who plays down her looks because she’s heard one too many wolf whistles as she walks down the street. Or the ex-Marine who could break every bone in your body, but chooses to keep his muscles and his training under wraps because he doesn’t want to have to prove once again how tough he is.

The interesting thing about all these people is that when we plop them in the middle of one of our stories, whatever they’re trying to hide eventually comes to light. Everyone has secrets, and the deeper we dig, the more we uncover the reasons for those secrets.

And you know what?

When those secrets come to light, these people usually become stronger, braver, richer (I’m not necessarily talking real money here), and more beautiful (or actual beauty here) than they ever thought possible.

They become stronger, braver, richer, and more beautiful inside.

Where it counts.

CBA Bestselling author PAM HILLMAN was born and raised on a farm in Mississippi and spent her teenage years on the seat of a tractor. Raking hay doesn’t take much thought so Pam spent her time working on her tan and making up stories in her head. That’s the kind of life every girl should dream of.
